Tyler Simpson a 31 year old East Vancouver based photographer who has been focusing his work on documenting the ” Human Condition” in the DownTown East Side ( DTES) of Vancouver for the past few years. Steph was perusing a photography project called “This is East Van” when she stumbled upon Tyler’s Work. Tyler had photographed a friend of Steph’s that she has known for over 7 years who suffers from mental illness, homelessness, HIV & deep addiction. Steph immediately emailed Tyler to hire him to work on a Pilot She was filming at that time for a homelessness initiative in the Tri-Cities, Tyler Jumped at the opportunity. During the planning session for the Tri-Cities project Tyler mentioned that he would be willing to come along side Steph to work with her in Haiti. Knowing how difficult it can be to photograph those living on the margins & seeing evidence of Tyler effectively doing so through the Tri-Cities Project as well as his previous work in the DownTown East Side Steph knew he was the perfect fit & would be a long term friend. Tyler is the official Photographer for Voices of Haiti & will be providing a visual narrative by publishing his photographs on this site during their time on the ground in Haiti. Tyler will be shooting with a Nikon D700 & F100 Film Camera as well as Canon DSLR’s. You are able to view Tyler’s Portfolio here http://www.observeone.com/
